Three trains may fill for Lourdes

TWO big congregations went to Westminster Cathedral to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on the 94th anniversary of Our Lady's appearance to St. Bernadette.

hi the afternoon Bishop Petit of Menevia addressed hundreds of school children and gave Benediction,

In the evening the cathedral was packed, the people thronging the side aisles and the galleries as well as the nave to hear a sermon by Mgr. Vernon Johnson and for Pontifical Benediction given by Cardinal Griffin.

Both congregations heard Mgr, John Bagshawc appeal for more to join the national pilgrimage to Lourdes from May 24 to June 1.

Mgr. Bagshawc asked those who could not go on the pilgrimage to make an offering to the Sick Pilgrim Fund so that more invalids could have the opportunity of going.

Already about 200 people, not including the sick, have booked their places, and the organisers hope for three trainloads. Cardinal Griffin will lead the pilgrimage and Bishop Beck expects to accompany it.

In the procession round the cathedral walked 200 Children of Mary— four tickets only had been allotted to each sodality—more than 150 Knights of St. Columba, and many others, including brancardiers.
