IRELAND HAS NEW BISHOP

President and Premier at consecration

DRESIDENT OKELLY, the Prime Minister, Mr. De Valera and nine members of the Irish Hierarchy saw the consecration on Sunday of the new Bishop of Clonfert, Mgr. William Philbin, at St. Brendan's Cathedral. Loughrea. The consecrators were Archbishop Walsh of Tuam and the Bishops of Galway andAchonry. Loughrea was decorated with streamers, welcome banners and the national and Papal colours. A procession of townspeople and clergy met the Bishop-elect at the town boundary and conducted him to his cathedral. Bishop Philbin succeeds Bishop who died in April after Dignan, ruling the diocese for 30 sears.
