ft was announced by the Apostolic Delegation in London on Wednesday that the Holy Father has elevated the diocese of Malta to the status of an Archdiocese. The diocese thus becomes the Province of Malta with Com as Suffragen See. The Archbishop. who has hitherto enjoyed the title of Archbishop-Bishop in a personal capacity. now receives the title of Archbishop as head of the Province

Archhiehop Gonzi, who was pregiously Bishop of Gozo, still retains charge of the diocese of Gozo as Administrator Apostolic until the Holy Father appoints a Bishop to that diocese.
