CONSECRATION IN ST. PETER'S

mILAN'S new Archbishop, Mgr. Giovanni Battista Montini, '1-formerly Papal Pro-Secretary of State, will be consecrated in St. Peter's on December 12 by Cardinal Tisserunt, Dean of the Sacred College.

Immediately after the ceremony the new Archbishop will be received in audience by the Holy Father, who is expected to present him with a pectoral cross.

Mgr. Montini will be enthroned in Milan's great cathedral on January 6, Feast of the Epiphany.

Last week he took leave of the Swiss Guards at the Vatican by celebrating Mass for them in the chapel of their patron, St. Martin. After the Mass, the Guards paraded and a farewell address was delivered by their Commandant, Col. Baron Enrico de Pfyffer.

Mgr. Montini last week also celebrated Mass and preached for the delegates attending the Italian National Congress of the Catholic Press. He suggested a prayer for them : "Lord, make me worthy, capable and conscious of this mission which Thou has confided to my poor voice and pen. Make inc worthy to he numbered among those sharing in the diffusion of truth in the world and to spread the benefits of Thy salvation through the written word."
