entirely cleared at Our Lady and St. Philip Neri's church, Uckfield, through an American tea and garden party held on July 23, the total proceeds being £125 Os. 10d., with surplus of £30. About twelve years ago the church debt (for purchase of presbytery, etc.) stood at £1,500, and Fr. Plummer, the parish priest, pointed out that this was a wondcful achievement for so small a parish, proba5ly the smallest in the Diocese of Southwark. Great assistance had been generously given by a large number of nonCatholics.
