A SERIES of taped "news commentaries" on the forthcoming Synod of bishops in Rome is to be produced by Catholic Information Services (CIS).
The cassette tapes will feature comments by Cardinal Hume and Archbishop Derek Worlock on developments at the Synod, together with other news of the debates and interviews with key figures. The cardinal and the archbishop will be representing the bishops of England and Wales.
There will also be special sections relating the discussions at the Synod with themes developed at the National Pastoral Congress.
The tapes will be available every week throughout October while the Synod i!.; on. The theme of the Synod is "The Family in modern society", which was the subject under investigation by one of the seven sectors at the C'ongress and which produced some of the Congress' most controversial recommendations.
Another series of tapes relating directly to the Congress is also being produced. The last of the four will include an explanation of the bishops' reactions by Cardinal Hume and Archbishop Worlock.
