Contemplative centre In the Desert

TWO Little Sisters of the Sacred

Heart have flown from Algiers to Tamanrasset in the heart of the Sahara Desert to establish a " fraternitd."

1 hey are members of the first congregation to follow the rules elaborated by Pere de Foucauld, the French officer who became a priest and was murdered after living in solitude in the Sahara for 10 years.

The two sisters will live near his humble hermitage. Their chaplain will be a priest-member of the Brothers of Jesus who has been living in the "bjord" at the door of which Pere de Foucauld was killed on December 1. 1916.

They will be joined soon by other sisters to form a centre of prayer, contemplation and sacrifice in the desert.
