Wise words of bishop apply to Rush church

FR BERNARD Canning (pictured right) has just published a monumental and fascinating work, The Bishops of Ireland 1870-1987 (Donegal Democrat f15).

Eamonn Casey, Bishop of Galway, is quoted as saying that the role of a bishop is "to create a situation in which the total commitment, knowledge and expertise of laity, religious and priests are channelled to the community and the Church".

Somebody should tell the parishioners of the church of St Maur in Rush, Co Dublin about this quotation.
