New President asks Church cooperation

At his inauguration as the new President of the Republic of Columbia, Laureano Gomez asked for the cooperation of the Church with the Government and said that out of such a union immense benefits and countless blessings would C me rge.

President Gomez was unopposed for the office despite the bitter battle for leadership between the two leading parties that has been waged in recent years.

With his inauguration this period of political agitation between his party, the Conservative. and the Liberal party. is hoped to end. The fiery struggle and bitter debates during the past two years. many times mounting to violence, caused injuries and deaths,
