ln thanksgiving for the clearance of debt of £7,000 in five years special celebrations were held on Low Sunday at the Sacred Heart anti St. Helen's church, Hoyland, a mining village near Barnsley, and an impressive feature was the singing at Solemn high Mass of an Italian prisoners of war choir.
Canon James Grogan, of St. Patrick's, Huddersfiele who built the church in t928, preaching in the evening, congratulated Fr. Magner, parish priest, and his parishioners on their fine achievement.
Preparations are now being made for the consecration of the church, and Canon Grogan has opened the new eller fund with a generous donation of £25.
