RISHOP HUIBERS of Haarlem has approved plans for building a special hotel for priests in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital. The number of priests visiting the city is growing rapidly each year. Last year more than 1,700 foreign priests stayed for one night or more.
The initiative for the hotel was taken by the Third Order of St. Francis. Fr. A. Korse, president of the federation of the Third Order, says that premises have already been bought in the south-west area of the city but that they will need complete reconstruction.
The hotel will have 30 rooms, each with private shower. Similar accommodation for priests already exists in other cities such as Paris and Madrid.
Apart from providing accommodation and a chapel, the hotel will be a useful centre for information and for international contacts.
