A 70 per cent. currency devaluation is believed to be absolutely necessary by a prominent nazi economist, Herr Albrecht Forstmann, writes our German correspondent. He • has published a book entitled The Fight for International Trade which dares to criticise, in a way which is unusual under Dr. Goebbels's censorship, Dr. Schacht's economic policy.

The book proves again that Dr. Schacht's position is far from being firm and that the opposition is growing in in

fluential circles. It seems that not only Dr. Goebbels, Dr. Ley and Walther Dart-6 are bitterly opposed to Dr. Schacht, but also Rudolf Hess. On the other hand the Minister of Finance, the Minister if Foreign Affairs and the Minister of War are keen supporters of Schacht. That is also true, with a few reservations, of Goering.
