From Mrs Michelle Moran Sir, I refer to the tabloid

style headline "Charismatic renewal wrecked my marriage" on the front page of The Catholic Herald (6 Nov).

It is unfortunate that no attempt was made to present a balanced view by reporting on the very many couples whose marriages have been saved or at the very least greatly enhanced by belonging to movements such as Charismatic Renewal.

The National Chaplain to Marriage Care quite rightly points out That difficulties often arise for married couples when they don't feel able to share the same interests.

In my view it was unjust to single out Charismatic Renewal and a disservice to many thousands of its participants to imply that the movement is dangerous or a threat to marriage. My husband and I have been involved in Charismatic Renewal for over 20 years and married for 17. For us, the movement has been of enormous help, providing sound and inspirational teaching that has furthered our participation of the life and mission of the Church.

Yours faithfully, MICHELLE MORAN Brentwood, Essex.
