Parishes receive fertility kit

A NEW NATURAL FAMILY planning kit is being promoted in parishes around the country, claiming to be the safest form of family planning to date.

The Self-Awareness and Fertility Evaluation (SAFE) System, launched in the mid-1990s by Family Together, aims to help couples plan their families without the use of drugs and devices.

"During our work with married couples, we recognised that there was a large group of people who were unaware of methods of family planning which were natural, reliable and easy to learn and apply," explained Greg Clovis, one of the Family Together's founder members. The kit was launched earlier this month to introduce these couples to natural methods of family planning. Although SAFE has its origins in the traditional Ovulation Method, the systems differ in two distinct ways. First, SAFE helps users of natural methods focus on the

signs of fertility; the kit has a specially designed Fertility Evaluator which helps record fertility signs rigorously and consistently.

There is also a graphical charting method which simplifies recording information and makes the interpretation of the fertile and infertile days clearly visible. The SAFE System bills itself as a "personal fertility system designed for the 90s" when planning a family, evaluating fertility, having difficulties with conceiving or becoming aware of your fertility.
