Sir,—My attention has been called to a statement in the CATHOLIC HERALD for July 31st which reads "Chaplains at Cardiff, Edinburgh and Cambridge said that, although the situation is not so alarming as it was five years ago. the Catholic educational system is still not doing enough to meet the increasing demand for scientists". When your reporter telephoned to me to ask my opinion I was careful to say twice with great clarity that I had no comment to make. I neither said nor implied that more scientists were desirable or that our schools were to be criticesd for not producing them. I should he obliged if you would publish this letter in your next issue.
