meeting of S.C.M.
A "celebration of free communities" will take place in Birmingham from January 2 to 6. Organised by the Student Christian Movement, the four-day event will offer an opportunity to explore communes, cooperatives, work collectives and communities at every level.
"If we deny at an intimate, immediate level what we advocate for the world at large," writes the Student Christian Movement, "then we are being not merely hypocritical but literally self-defeating. For Christians especially, the issue will go deeper still, confronting the inner contradictions of the human ego."
Among the guests will be Guy and Molly Clutton-Brock, of Cold Comfort Farm, Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) and Cesar Chavez of the United Farm Workers in California.
