FR KENELM FOSTER died in Cambridge on 6 February after a short illness. For 30 years he had been a distinguished member of the Department of Italian in the University. Born in India in 1910, he went to school at Downside, gained a first-class Degree at Cambridge, and joined the English Dominicans in 1934. He was ordained priest at Oxford in 1940, and after finishing his formal studies was appointed to the parish staff at Holy Cross, Leicester. In 1948 he was elected to a lectureship at Cambridge. A distinguished author in his particular subject, he was also a theologian of repute. and was appointed a Master of Theology in 1978.
FATHER KENNETH BRENNAN was born at Ballyragget, County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1906 and became a priest of the Archdiocese of Glasgow in 1930. Eight years later he applied to enter the community at Ampleforth and took solemn vows in 1942. For a number of years he was the infirmarian of the community and. after a year as parish priest of the local village parish, he became the novice master, a post which he held for eight years. In 1954 he was sent to the Benedictine mission at Blyth and in the following year to the Ampleforth parish of St Mary'. Cardiff, Nine years later Fr Kenneth was appointed parish priest of Kirbymoorside and in 1970 of St Alban's, Warrington. In 1974 he became assistant priest at Brindle and five years later he moved to Leyland where he died on 7 February. Fr Kenneth was a much loved pastor and for many years was sought after as a spiritual director and retreat giver.
FATHER DAVID GOULD studied for the Priesthood at The Beda College. Rome. He was ordained on the 27th of June 1971. He was Assistant Priest at: Christ the King, Blackpool; St Augustine's, Preston: Sacred Heart. Preston and the Blessed Sacrament, Preston. He died very suddenly on February 2nd, 1986. aged 44 years.
