Over 1,000 children `rescued'

WELL over a thousand children have been cared year for during the past y by the Incorporated Society of the Crusade of

Cr Rescue and Homes for Destitute Catholic Children in the Westminster and Brent.vood dioceses.

Announcing this in its annual report, the society pays tribute to the schools in the Westminster and Brentwood diocese who collected during Lent 1960. £8,709—over £1,238 more than the previous %ear's record total. Atrocious weather, says the report, affected the result of the Princess Elizabeth -Flag Day, which benefits many voluntary welfare organisations, including the Crusade of Rescue. "Our share of the collection was £4.208—some £232 less than the year before. We have, however, just cause to he proud of our collectors. who raised more than 35 per cent of the total." Parish priests and parishioners in Hertfordshire are praised n the society's report for having made such a success of a Flag Day in that county. They added £275 last year to their previous total of £1,521. £1.521.
