MGR. PIZZARDO, ARCHBISHOP OF NICAEA AND PAPAL ENVOY TO THE CORONATION, SPOKE VERY OPENLY TO THE EDITOR OF THE CATHOLIC HERALD IN THE COURSE OF A SPECIAL INTERVIEW.
After expressing his deep gratitude to the British people for the welcome he had received, His Excellency alluded to the difficulties which had arisen in the past and had caused misgivings even to sympathisers with the Vatican.
He explained at length the meaning of the Pope's words at the opening of the Vatican Press Exhibition which were taken in certain quarters to imply a judgment on the war in Abyssinia, and spoke of thc present relations between the Vatican and Rome.
.Mgr. Pizzardo emphasised the primary importance which the Hol. Father attaches to the work of the Catholic Press.
