Canon Ilackett (Coatbridge)

Canon Patrick Hackett, of the Glasgow Cathedral Chapter, has died at the age of eighty-two and in the jubilee year of his priesthood. He will be greatly missed at St. Mary's, Whifflet, Coatbridge, where for upwards of thirty years he had exercised a painstaking ministry.

The late Canon was a native of Co. Monaghan, He was educated at St. Mungo's Academy. Glasgow, and at Propaganda College in Rome. Returning to Scotland after his ordination, he served successively at Greenock, Maryhill, and Cleland before his final appointment to Coatbridge as parish priest of St. Mary's. Canon Hackett was for many years a member of the Lanarkshire Education Authority.

Following a requiem Mass at St. Mary's, the interment took place on Monday last in Si. Patrick's cemetery, New Stevenston,
