Nazis Get a Little Muddled

From Our German Correspondent

In his May Day appeal, the leader of the German Labour Front. Dr. Robert Ley, again made strong attacks on Christianity and the Catholic Church.

He criticised Christianity for teaching " the lie of the vale of tears on this earth."

Referring to the trial of Fr. Rossaint, the speaker went on: " Rossaint and company dare to insult and to slander the rising strong and healthy Germany of Adolf Hitter, and by pious distortion put National Socialism in the same line with Bolshevism."

That is a very interesting phrase. Father Rossaint was sentenced to eleven years of hard labour for having fostered and prepared a " common front of Catholics and Communists" and organised together with the Communists an anti-Hitlerite plot. Now Dr. Ley accuses the same priest of " putting National Socialism in the same line with Bolshevism."
