When Alderman F. H. O'Donnell, Lord Mayor of Leeds, opened the crib outside the Leeds Civic Hall, on Monday evening, 600 children, many of them carrying lanterns, Sang carols around the crib.

At the same time a record of York Minster Bells was played.

The crib is 30 feet long and 12 feet high and has life-size figures lent by a Leeds firm of church fur-, nishers.

There has been no opposition to its erection.
