Bishops hopeful on Synod findings

by Beth Webb

DUTCH bishops have issued a statement saying that they are not disappointed "with the way the findings of the recent Synod in Rome have been received In the Netherlands."

The bishops say they do not disguise the fact that there have been some hesitations about some of the Synod's findings, "hut goodwill and loyalty prevail" and they sincerely hope they will be able to find solutions", They emphasised the importance of bishops meeting their colleagues and explaining their convictiuns about the Synods' findings. "We must go through the coming times together," they wrote.

The expression of unity and commitment is basic to a report on the Synod published by the Catholic Truth Society this week. In it the bishops said they were intent on maintaining the fellowship of the faithful and, in the words of the Acts of the Apostles, to devote themselves to the apostle's teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and of prayers."
