Sir,--I heartily agree with Mrs. Mildred Royston that we need a more worthy Papal anthem than the one commonly used. A much worthier one (in my opinion) already exists, with a fine melody. It is No'. 94 in "Cantate Domino," a small supplementary hymn book published by Rushworth and Dreaper of Islington, Liverpool.
The first lines run:
Come Christians, young and old Uplift ye. loud your voices, To praise our Holy Pope
In w horn the Church rejoices:
The choir of St. Theresa's Church, Mayville, Durban, S. Africa (which I had the privilege of directing for over 20 years) used to sing that Papal hymn.
The same hymn book Contains very many pearls of great price, not to be found in the usual Catholic hymnals.
