now passed since the canonisation of St. John Fisher, during which I have not read nor heard of any material focus of the veneration of this saint in his cardinalatial church of St. Vitalis in Rome. If any such memorial has been promoted I ask for information, so that I may not miss the privilege of contributing to the cost. If not, in default of any better qualified than myself to do so, I suggest that a fund for Masses in perpetuity in honour of St. John be established, and that an altar to, or at least an image of him be erected in the church of St. Vitalis, acceptable to the clergy and people of that parish and worthy of the martyr who was their titular pastor and of his fellow countrymen whose privilege it should be to bear the cost.
R. V. August 17.
