Consecration in Alaska

Irish-born Bishop

ALL the Bishops of the New

American ecclesiastical province of Seattle are going to Alaska for the consecration on October 3, Feast of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, Patroness of Alaska, of Irish-born Mgr. Dermot O'Flanagan. as Bishop of Juneau—the first member of the territory's new Hierarchy.

The ceremony will take place in the Holy Family Church, Anchorage, which when the Bishop-elect first went to the parish 18 years ago had I00 parishioners and a church seating 70 people.

Today it is Alaska's .largest parish —though the parishioners number no more than 1,200.

The smaller church in the town of Juneau will be the cathedral of the new diocese. It is dedicated to the Nativity of Our Lord.
