Richard Dowden is leaving the post of editor of the Catholic Herald at the end of this week. Ile has been editor for the past three years. He joined the paper as a reporter in November 1975 having been assistant secretary at the Justice and Peace Commission and was appointed Editor in July 1976.
Mr Dowden said this week: "I would like to thank all those who have helped me and the Herald in the past three years. A lot of people have contributed to it sometimes giving up a lot of time because they believed in it. It has been an inspiring experience."
Miss Frances Gumley has been appointed acting editor.
