Pope John Paul II has chosen "Truth, the Power of Peace" as the theme for the 1311h World Day of Peace, January I. 1980.
The Pope made that choice because he believes "that the outlook of too ninny people today is opposed to peace because it is against truth," said a Vatican statement.
"To bring truth into relations social or international relations, political or economic relations — is to work for peace." the statement said. "Without truth, peace will always be fragile."
The World Day of Peace was initiated in 1968 by Pope Paul Paul VI.
The 1979 theme, "To Reach Peace, Teach Peace," was chosen by Pope Paul with Pope ,John Paul It delivering the World Day of Peace message.
The Vatican statement says that the truth in question is not just a subjective attitude of sincerity on the part of people of good will, the human subjects of peace; it also concerns on the objective level, the structure of things and therefore the nature of peace itself. Truth distinguishes authentic from counterfeit peace,
