ADDRESSING two girls,
aged nine and ten,. at the Bootle Juvenile Court on Tuesday, Mr. G. A. Rogers (chairman), said:
" You both admit doing a lot of damage in church at different times. It is wicked to set fire to anything, but when it is God's house it is a lot worse."
One of the girls said : " got a candle and put it under the lace. Then I said a little prayer after I had set fire to it, because I bad not been a good girl."
The children were also accused of stealing articles from a bag on a bicycle.
On the first charge the nine-year-old girl was put on probation for two years. The other was discharged because the magistrate was not satisfied she was in the church on the day in question.
On the second charge the ten-year-old girl was placed on probation for two years.
The parents were ordered to pay 10s. compensation.
