CATHOLIC SPEAKERS

SIR.-As a member of the 'VI Form of the main Catholic grammar school of the diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and as one who has followed closely both the local and national campaigns for our schools, I would like the opportunity of replying to " North-Eastern Sojourner."

It is difficult to believe that there is a speaker of such importance that he has travelled 509 miles in the past eight months and has not been

offered 10s. for expenses. Neither I nor my fellow students, who come from most of the population centres of the diocese have heard or heard of this any such important speaker.

Allowing, however, that there are cases of mismanagement in regard to the reimbursement of speakers, would it not be a good plan for such speakers to state their expenses upon accepting an invitation to speak ?

DESMOND R. Fie-zee-mice.

St. Cuthbert's Grammar School, Newcastle-upon-Tyne 3.
