Polish Reds will control book sales

New legislation passed by the Warsaw Diet will give the Polish COmmunist Government control over the sale of all books, papers and other publications, thus providing it with the most effective possible powers of censorship.

Under the new law only the Stateowned booksellers and newsagents will be permitted to sell books, periodicals and newspapers. Privately-owned booksellers will now have to limit themselves to the sale of stationery.

It is expected that it will prove a severe blow to Catholic publications for the Communists are now in a position to stop their public sale as and when they please.
