From Mr Dwight Longenecker

Sir, St Malachi's prophecies add even more fun to the game of predicting the next Pope.

When I was in Rome last year a former correspondent of Time magazine explained the American interpretation of Malachi's prophecy that the next Pope will be "the glory of the olive". The next Pope has to be the Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, because what is the greatest glory of an olive? A dry Martini.

Yours sincerely, DWIGHT LONGENECKER Chippenham SNI5 2BP
