'Cut-price' plane for missionaries

Catholic Herald Reporter

ACUT-PRICE aircraft for missionaries in the Congo is on display in the square fronting Milan Cathedral. The eight-passenger plane was bought by popular subscription plus the efforts of three newspapers.

Italian Catholic missioners in the Diocese of Uvira, Congo, appealed for an aircraft to replace their ageing Piper plane. The diocese they cover is as large as Sicily and one-fifth of the inhabitants are Catholics

Two Milanese weekly newspapers took up the cause and the Milan daily Carders Della Sera donated one million lire.
