let answer to our query as to whether Dr. Benes is a Freemason, we have received the following answer from Dr. A. Speck, Czechoslovak Chaplain. It will be recalled that the question arose because of D. Spacek's claim that Dr. Benes is a Catholic and enjoys the confidence of all Catholics in Czechoslovakia.
Sts.—T would like to point out that your informant, Mr. PridavoIz, whose statements you published in your last issue, has only recently been released by the British authorities, having been imprisoned as a suspect alicit since his nrrival in England.
The Slovak Cathelic Populist Party, of which Mr. Piidasiik claims himself to be the only authorised representative, has collaborated in every way with the Nazis in the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia. Another " authorised representative " of this party, Fr. Tiso, has followed the betrayal of his country by joining the Axis, and is now at war with the Allies.
Owing to the fact that the sources of the CAI I LOLic HERALD'S information represent to the Czechs and Slovaks the equivalent of the sources of Nazi propaganda, I consider it useless to continue this discussion. I only regret that the spirit of friendliness and understanding that I meet with from all British Catholics in the course of my work as a chaplain, is not echoed by one of their leading newspapers,
DR. ANSEL 141 SPACF1K.
