CARDINAL Basil Hume joined the Archbishop of York and other church leaders in offering prayers for the happy couple at the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday.
Also offering their prayers were the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Moderator of the Free Church Federal Council, and the Chaplain of the Fleet. Dr Runcie, the Archbishop of Canterbury said the Blessing. The text of Cardinal Hume's prayer was as follows: "Almighty God, giver of life and love, bless Andrew and Sarah, whom thou hast now joined in Christian marriage. Grant them wisdom and devotion in their life together, that each may be to the other a strength in need, a comfort in sorrow, and a companion in joy. So unite their wills in thy will, and their spirits in thy Spirit, that they live and grow together in love and peace all the days of their life; through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen."
