LAY MISSION

In Aviedo, Archbishop Segundo Garcia defended the role of Catholic actionists in the field of labour. Their mission, he said, " is none other than that of the Church itself, being related to the apostolate of the Bishops ". He then pleaded for personal responsibility and initiative on the part of individual workers.

The most important aim of Catholic Action was to teach and defend the Church's social doctrine in such a way that men Cardinal Godfrey laid the foundation stone of a new church at Whitton, Twickenham. on Saturday. The parish of Whitton was founded in 1934, but the original church was bombed in 1940. It was restored a year later, and several extensions have since been hunt. The new church, started last October, will seat 450 people.
