Coventry Cathedral Consecration Today

COVENTRY Cathedral will be consecrated today (May 25) by Bishop Cuthbert Bardsley. The Cathedral has taken seven years to build (the main contractors were John Laing Construction Limited) and is the first cathedral to have been built in Britain as a single planned operation for 300 years.

The old Cathedral, which had taken 125 years (circa 1375-1500) when. of course, it was a Cathedral — was largely destroyed by fire during on the night of November 14, 1940. to build Catholic air raids
