News from the Markets

The recently-introduced Ordinary 10s. shares of Horseley Bridge, to which 1 made special reference in my last notes, have been in steady request during the past week, improving from 14s. 3d. to around 14s. 7Id. Concerning this firm, I hear further that it is the sole licensee in this country for a new type of roofing, designed for airraid shelters, and which has already met with considerable success in Ger. many, The Company's work recently in connection with aerodromes and A.R.P. is said to have been out of all proportion to anything previously undertaken.

One small-priced share in the Aircraft section, which I observe has been particularly progiessive recently, is the 2s. Ordinary of the Airscrew Company, now in the region of 9s. 6d. Although, on last year's distribution of 20 per cent., they already seem very fully valued, I learn from a source intimate with the business that the rate of current earnings is such as to inspire considerable optimism as to the future. The concern owns the patent rights for the production in this country of various types of wooden propellers, the efficiency of which is said to have been enormously increased by new developments during the current financial year.
