U.S. Cardinal's gift to Hong Kong

The Catholic Welfare Centre in Hong Kong has received $24,000 from Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York.

The money will be used to build four new centres for the religious, educational and welfare needs of the colony's many refugees from Red China.

The Cardinal had previously given $30,000 for the erection of five similar centres after he had been to Hong Kong and seen the plight of the refugees.
