Paternal solicitude

WRITING in the Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano, Cardinal Ottaviani, Pro-Secretary of the Holy Office, says:

"file Motu Proprio `Sacram C'ommunionem' is a new proof of the paternal solicitude of His Holiness for the spiritual welfare of the faithful ... So ripen the beneficent fruits of the

Apostolic Constitution `Christus Dominus' of January 6, 1953 ...

"The bishops and faithful of the world have not failed to show their immense gratitude to the Holy Father, who has now acceded to their latest

requests, showing in this way how close is the ralliaboration between the Chief Shepherd and the shepherds of the universal flock, and how the Church, properly severe and immovable when dealing with doctrinal principles, knows nevertheless how to harmonise all matters of ecclesiastical

discipline with the circumstances of the times."
