A TEAM OF four students from Bishop Challoner School, Shortlands, Kent, recently won the ANALYST '88 Competition organised by Dr Barbara Page of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Life Science at the Polytechnic of North London.
This year 90 teams were entered from 60 schools and the finals took place on April 13 between teams from ten schools.
Sixth form Chemistry students competed in their analysis of iron and chromium compounds, in some cases using instrumental techniques normally first met at University level.
The Bishop Challoner team consisted of Stephen Ankelen, Jonathan Digby, Stefan Passchier and Hemang Patel taught by the School Chemistry teacher J J Zawadzki. The trophy, provided by Johnson Matthey, was prese-. -cl by Dr Ian Haines at Bislalloner School on Tuesday May 17.
In addition each of the boys received a 35mm camera and films and the sum of £50 was given to the Chemistry Department of the School.
