AT SOUTHWARK Over £900 Handed to Mgr. Amigo

Following the practice started by Bishop Butt, representatives from many of the schools of the diocese presented offerings for the orphans

and destitute children under the care of the Southwark Rescue Society to Archbishop Amigo at St. George's Cathedral on Sunday last.

Thonking the teachers and children for the sacrifices which they had made during Lent in order to help their less fortunate brothers and sisters, Archbishop Amigo pointed out that in 19.38 the collection had amounted to L1,994 115. led.

He said that Fr. Healy is sometimes inclined to get disheartened when he feels that many who could help in the work of saving the Faith of the orphans and destitute children are indifferent, and consequently he was especially grateful to the schoolchildren.

Over £900 was handed to the Archbishop and more than £500 had been sent from schools and catechism classes who were not able to be represented at Sunday's ceremony.
