THE Catholic Renewal Movement is continuing its good service to the Church
by providing first-class theologians. to give lectures in various cities.
The latest capture is by the Scottish movement which has brought Fr. John McKenzie, Professor of Scripture at Notre Dame University, U.S. He will speak at Liverpool on September 10 and Birmingham on September 11 on the "Roman Catholic Church." On September 13 he speaks in Glasgow on "The Bible Today."
Fr. McKenzie is stopping off in Britain on his way home to the U.S. from Africa. Famed as a debater as well as a scripture scholar he will be remembered by many for his debate in Chicago with Charles Davis when he argued powerfully for reforming the Church within instead of opting out. In September 1965 he joined the Faculty of the Divinity of Chicago University, the first Catholic to be so invited.
Among the books he has written are his interpretation of the Old Testament, The TwoEdged Sword, Myths and Realities and The Power and the Wisdom.
