Anglican honour for bishop

Bishop Brian Noble of Shrewsbury has been made an ecumenical canon of Chester Cathedral.

The appointment was made following a change in the constitution and statutes of the Anglican cathedral, approved by Queen.

Bishop Peter Forster of Chester said the honour recognised "the wide links which already exist between the cathedral, the diocese, other denominations, and the wider community".

He added: "We look forward to the new canons, lay ecumenical, and theological, enriching the life of the cathedral, the churches of Cheshire, and the wider community, in the years to come."
