Trip improves Balkan ties
PROMOTION of Belgrade-Vatican relations was the main topic during a meeting between a top Vatican official and a government minister earlier this month,
Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran, the Vatican secretary of state for relations for states, was officially invited to Serbia and Montenegro by Foreign Affairs minister, Goren Svilanovic.
A statement from the ministry said: "The further promotion of relations with the Holy See is an important contribution to support our European policy and the policy which leads toward the stabilisation of peace and the overall progress of the Balkan nations."
Archbishop Tauran said: "We cannot be happy without one another and, much less so, against one another at this time of grave international crisis. Let us be like brothers. This is the message that the Holy See addresses to the peoples of this part of the Balkans."
