Vietnam bans human cloning

THE GOVERNMENT of Vietnam has approved a ban on human cloning for all purposes.

A decree approved by the Vietnamese government, which will come into effect on May 1, also prohibits the sex selection of embryos and the donation of sperm, eggs or embryos for fertility treatment.

However, the decree on reproductive technologies will allow the practice of IVF treatment to continue.
