SOCIAL GUILD GETS CIVIC RECEPTION

THE Catholic Social Guild will he given a civic reception by the Lord Mayor of Hull when its summer school opens at Endsleigh Training College, Hull. on August 10.

The theme of the summer school will be the responsibility of Catholics to put into practice the encyclicals of the late Pope John. .1 he opening speaker, Fr. Bernard Basset, SI, will set the lone of the week by discussing

self-training for responsibility. Following speakers will deal with responsibility in Industry, the Lay Apostolate. and the hungry parts of the world.

Mr. 1. Booth, a senior lecturer at Endsleigh Training College, will discuss the question of teaching social doctrine in schools.
