Cardinal joins Order of Malta

CARDINAL Cormac MurphyO'Connor joined the Order of Malta on Monday.

The Archbishop of Westminster was welcomed into the Order by the President of the British Association of the Order, Prince Rupert Lowenstein.

In his homily to the congregation assembled in the Brompton Oratory, the Cardinal reminded the congregation, made up of Ambassadors to the Order, members and friends, that the power of prayer is of fundamental importance to the world in its search for peace and harmony. From its foundation in Jerusalem over 900 years ago, the Order's members have worked to help the poor and the sick, without discrimination because of age, race or religion.
