CARDINAL HEENAN was not invited to the celebration of the diamond jubilee of Mother Dympna Fox of the Faithful Companions of Jesus, but he came and concelebrated Mass for the occasion with nine other priests at Gumley House. Isieworth. on Thursday, March 20.
In his address he explained that about 30 years ago, when he was a young priest. Mother Dympna had defended him against his bishop. Nowadays anyone who did not contradict his bishop was reckoned to have something wrong with him, but to do so 30 years ago required great courage.
After the Mass, the Cardinal helped Mother Dympna to cut the three-tier jubilee cake at the reception attended by a large number of sisters of her own and other Congregations, as well as many lay friends made during her long life-time of service to the Church and her Order.
