Cardinal Suenens to preach in York Minster

CARDINAL SUENENS, Archbishop of MalinesBrussels, will preach in York Minster on April 27 and unveil a plaque commemorating the Malines Conversations from 1921 and 1925 between the Catholic and Anglican Churches. He will stay during his visit to both with the Archbishop of York. Dr. Coggan, and Bishop Wheeler of Leeds.

Members of the Halifax family will attend the Minster ceremony in memory of the talks, which were largely the result of negotiations by the 2nd Viscount Halifax, who hoped for a union of the two Churches under the primacy of the Pope.

Guests at a civic reception after the ceremony will in

elude Dr. E. Gordon Rupp, President of the Methodist Conference, who will preach in York the same day. He is a scholar with a particular interest in the Reformation, and represented the Methodist Church on the Commission for Anglican-Methodist Unity.
